For future park plans, I think a pump track would be a great addition to Veterans Park.

Thank you for the hard work done in preparing this plan. It looks like a good start. May I suggest that more attention be paid to wildlife habitat and wildlife corridors? You'll see that the both the Wetlands and the Newell Ranch are separated by miles of development, streets and the highways. There is no safe wildlife corridor for land animals to get from one open to space to another. There is a huge number of animals getting killed on the roadways. This is often noted on Next Door and American Canyon Happenings. Perhaps the City could look at protecting areas of land for the safe transit of animals. Also, posting more "Wildlife Crossing" signs in areas of high roadkill. This is also true in the industrial park and warehouse area. Tucked between these buildings are creeks, ponds and trees where wildlife hides out until nighttime. I am wondering whether there is a way to inventory all the "wild" areas behind the warehouses and find ways to protect them as sanctuaries for wildlife. There is also a river otter population in American Canyon now that could use some further protection. While everyone focuses on Newell and the Wetlands, there isn't a measure of the pockets, or in-between areas, where wildlife is hiding out. The encroachment of development is also causing a significant decline in the wildlife. I'd like to request that American Canyon conduct a baseline report on current wildlife populations, where they live, approximate numbers, etc. One last point, the 321 acre Jaeger Ranch property, (which is the mitigation for the Watson Ranch development, once home to the endangered red-legged frog), is not included this plan. I understand this land is to remain in conservation easement and is currently owned by the Jaegers, but managed by the Golden State Land Trust. The stipulation is that once the funding is raised to repair the property to the advantage of the cattle (note, not the frog, which was the original intent of the mitigation), the ownership of the property will come under the auspices of American Canyon. This is not currently included in the plan. Perhaps it might be a good idea to include it. Thank you.

Please connect the Vine Trail through AmCan. A route exists via Wetlands Edge to Green Island Road. The Plan doesn't have that.
Also connect our portion of the Bay Trail, and the Ridge Trail. Local access to the Ridge Trail is from Newell, via Donaldson Rd.
    Thanks!
