At the June Joint meeting with the City Council, I recommended that the city hire staff (at least part-time) to ostensibly do the "leg work" of this commission. The Parks and Recreation Commission, the Planning commission, for example, each have staff members who report to and recommend actions, This part-time staff person would be qualified in environmental science and have knowledge of the ecological issues facing American Canyon in the midst of a massive development effort. I believe several councilmembers agreed with this idea. The question is, how do we work to move it forward? Does it need a formal process? Who will be the lead on this effort to manage it into fruition? Maybe this can be included in the work plan.
