Dear American Canyon City Council,

I was born, raised and live in Napa County. I have been a cyclist for 55 of my 68 years and recognize a safety concern I’m certain was simply overlooked but creates a liability for the City.

I am writing to ask that you overturn the Planning Commission’s decision to not include Condition 68 in their approval of the design permit for the Napa Valley Ruins and Gardens Fence. Please require this fence to comply with nationally recognized safety standards along multi-use bike paths.

Thank you for your consideration and willingness to continue eliminating real and potential liabilities for our City of American Canyon.
Isn’t it the duty of our city to employ risk management recommendations to best protect our city from litigations that arise from such decisions as to eliminate nationally recognized standards especially in a cycling rich community?
