    Good evening,

My name is Joshua Coleman and I am representing the American Canyon Youth Football and Cheer program. Also known as the Jr. Wolves. Thank you for the opportunity to make comment on this agenda item. Unfortunately, I could not attend in person due to work obligations.

The Jr. Wolves organization would like to extend our most sincere expression of gratitude to the City of American Canyon for the support and generosity this city shows its youth programs. Without the city’s unwavering support we would not be able to function in the same manner that we do now. The city maintains a practice of waiving rental fees for certain non-profit sports programs which positively impacts the programs in an immeasurable way. This, of course, results in an improved experience for the children of our community by affording us the ability to purchase better safety equipment, uniforms and training equipment.

In addition to this support, the city has taken a proactive step toward improving the field quality. This impact has been felt in a big way this season. The grass is green and the ground is soft. This improvement translates to a safer practice environment for our young athletes to learn tackling and decreases risk of injury during those drills.

I am aware that the city still has plans for improvement with regard to the leveling of the fields. I can attest to how the holes at Community Park 1 have contributed to a few ankle and knee injuries during conditioning this year sidelining players for a few games. Leveling the fields would drastically improve the playing experience and significantly reduce the risk of injury during running conditioning.

We at the Jr. Wolves program truly appreciate our partnership with the City of American Canyon and we look forward to the ways that the council and committees seek to improve this city.

    Go Wolves!
