I am an American Canyon resident who has walked past the Eucalyptus grove for many years and enjoyed it, although I understand the need to remove and replace the many trees that are either dead or dying for the safety reasons. I am glad that the proposed new trees and shrubs will be native to this area and are able to live amongst the Eucalyptus that are healthy. I do hope that environmental studies have been done to see what animals are living in the area and are properly cared for and protected in a humane way. Thank you .

Due to the clearing of land building of the SDG warehouses directly behind this eucalyptus grove, there has been a decline in wildlife in the area. A baseline wildlife status report on these 25 acres would be beneficial in the planning of not only replanting of the trees, but the possibility of leaving certain areas alone where species are detected. Or, by adding bat boxes, roosting posts, etc. Perhaps the Audobon Society could be consulted for input, as well. There is also a current DEIR on the SDG warehouse suggesting that there might be overwintering Monarch butterfiles in those trees, as well. I believe I saw monarchs in February, 2024 when I was walking in the area. So, there is the wildlife to consider.

I am a resident of American Canyon and took the time to read the information provided regarding fuel reduction and tree replacement on Clarke Ranch land. I was very impressed with the depth of information provided, the research that obviously went into selecting the types of trees to replace the dead and/or aging eucalyptus trees, and illustrations of the species of trees that have been selected. Big thumbs up to the members of the commission, to Chip and everyone who has worked on this project. Obviously a great deal of time and careful consideration has gone into this.
