    Dear Mayor Garcia and Councilmembers

I am a writing to express support for item 10 on tonight's agenda, the lease agreement that would allow ACCPF to convert the City's corporation yard into the Napa River Ecology Center.

This is a win-win for everyone, as it will allow ACCPF to finally find a home, close to the resources it seeks to educate people about. For the City, it will allow the reuse of an underutilized building and site to promote and educate the public on the value of the wetlands and outdoor activity, not only to Am Can residents, but to those throughout the region. For Am Can residents, it will improve the aesthetics of an existing building along the wetlands, and create a venue to educate, celebrate and respect one of our most treasured resources.

This lease agreement and project is a true public/private partnership!!

We truly appreciate the expertise, guidance that your staff have provided in navigating the process. We are immensely grateful to the potential City or state funding sources that the city has identified and will hopefully commit to help us transition the site into an ecology center

    Thank you,

    Raffi Boloyan
Resident and ACCPF, President of the Board

Dear Distinguished Members of the American Canyon City Council,

The Napa Sierra Club Group is excited to continue its collaboration with the American Canyon Community and Parks Foundation. Since 2020, we have not only donated several thousand dollars a year to the Foundation, but we have also been collaborating with them through their Watershed Explorers and The Outdoor Connection Programs. Just two weeks ago during the King Tides Event, a couple of members of the Executive Committee, along with four of our student interns, stationed a table right next to the Foundation’s Pop-up trailer, and helped educate members of the community about sea-level rise, and the importance of protecting the wetlands.

We are thrilled to learn that the City Council will be voting on the Foundation’s long-term lease for the Napa River Ecology Center project. We understand that the terms will be very favorable (50 years at $1 a year, plus payment of utilities). Also, the City is committing $1,000,000 to support the worksite needs of the project. We think this is incredible!

We therefore urge all members of the Council to support the Foundation by voting “YES” for this amazing project. The importance of this project to the citizens of American Canyon, as well as the Bay Area, cannot be underestimated.

    Thank you.

    Sincerely,

    Nick Cheranich
    Chair, Napa Sierra Club Group
