We have seen first-hand how well traffic calming works during the Wetlands Edge Traffic Calming pilot, the first project to use our city's traffic calming process since it was established in 2011.

We’ve tracked over 800,000 vehicles since 2019. We’ve gone from over 80% of the drivers routinely speeding (before pilot) to over 80% now driving the speed limit (with speed cushions).

And, as shown by the city's recent survey, it has been overwhelmingly well-received.

Please share with the neighborhood the timeline for completing the rest of the Wetlands Edge traffic calming project since the pilot was so successful.

Additionally, we applaud the City for holding this traffic calming workshop. We encourage the city to implement a pro-active traffic calming management plan to address all the problem areas in the city, and to add residents to the current traffic safety group or to form a new committee comprised of residents and city leaders.

Residents deserve transparency and accountability for traffic safety and traffic calming decisions, and more responsibility to drive safely as well, with encouragement and education from city leaders.

Thank you for offering this traffic calming workshop. As the organizer for the city's very first resident-initiated traffic calming project, we have learned a lot through this process. Our speed data indicates the pilot for the 500-block of Wetlands Edge Road has been a success.

Over 90% of south-bound traffic is doing the speed limit, and 75% north-bound, which is a fantastic improvement. We still have isolated instances of speeders, like a neighboring business, but it's less than 1% going over 35 mph.

What is the next step to finish our traffic calming project for Wetlands Edge Road now that the Pilot on the 500-block has proven successful?
