    American Canyon Planning Commission:

As a nonprofit organization, we represent our membership, the business community, and the tourism sector of American Canyon. American Canyon is a growing city with the potential to expand its tourism sector, and we believe that the Hampton Inn is a great fit for our city.
As the Welcome Center, we understand that tourism in American Canyon goes further than just wine goers looking for a place to stay. In reality, we have extended-stay travelers looking to visit all areas of Northern California. Our unique location allows travelers to drive one hour in many directions and see all the wonderful things California has to offer. Being able to provide another affordable and safe option for families to stay is something for which we feel there is a growing demand. We have taken into consideration the other currently operating hotels, and this proposed hotel, and we believe, with our knowledge of tourism, that there is room for all. Participating in the TBID Committee has taught us the value of the TOT Tax, and an increase in this revenue can really help build tourism in our city.
With economic development as a priority of our Chamber of Commerce, we believe this project is a good fit for our city. Providing a hotel on the southbound side of HWY29 will provide the guests with a safe walking path to our current plazas. We would love to see our restaurants and small businesses be able to benefit from the foot traffic that will increase from adding another hotel. If the guests can safely walk to our stores and restaurants, they will be more likely to stay in American Canyon and support our local businesses. We feel that this is a real value for our small business community. Outside of the tourism sector, we are aware that many of the guests staying in American Canyon are from the workforce community, like construction workers, traveling nurses, pilots, flight attendants, and other contract workers. Being able to support these industries is a great way to help businesses while gaining revenue for our city. Though growth in American Canyon may seem overwhelming for some, we see the value this project will bring to our city.

    Sincerely,

    American Canyon Chamber of Commerce
